Armour

In modern Bedrock, armor protection scales with material tier. In Beta 1.7.3, all armor materials provide identical damage reduction: a full set of leather fills the armor bar to the same 80% damage cap as diamond. The material tier determines only durability.

  • Leather, gold, chain, iron and diamond all reach the same protection with a full set.
  • Durability is the only difference: diamond armor lasts significantly longer than iron or leather.
  • No Protection enchantments: enchantments were introduced in Beta 1.9, so unenchanted full armor represents maximum defense.
  • No armour toughness (added in 1.9), no netherite (1.16) and no armour trims (1.20).
Spend your first ingots on armour

Because protection is identical across materials, craft iron armor as soon as you have ingots, and reserve diamonds for tools. Leather provides the same defense on day one while it lasts.

The HUD

  • No hunger bar above the hotbar.
  • No experience bar or level.
  • No offhand slot: main hand only.
  • Health still shows as hearts and armour as the classic chestplate icons.

Controls & movement

Without sprinting, traveling long distances requires more planning. Boats, minecart tracks and paved paths become practical solutions for moving between bases.

Why it feels harder

Survival requires more caution without sprinting or passive health regeneration. Hostile mobs, falling damage and deep caves pose greater hazards.
