How the terrain is made
Betafied uses custom biomes with classic Beta biome temperature and humidity noise, original surface rules such as gravel beaches, classic foliage colormaps, and authentic tree features.
Classic biomes
Spawn in and you will find the recognisable pre-1.8 biome set rather than modern terrain:
- Rainforest: dense, tall trees and humid vegetation.
- Seasonal forest: dense oak trees.
- Forest: standard oak and birch woodland.
- Plains: open grassland with occasional trees.
- Desert: sand dunes, cacti and dead shrubs.
- Taiga: snowy terrain with pine trees.
- Tundra: open, flat snowy plains.
- Swampland: shallow water and clay deposits.
- Ocean and gravel beach: classic gravel coastlines.
What you will not find
| Feature | Present? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Gravel beaches | Yes | Classic coastlines, not sand everywhere. |
| NPC villages | No | Villages arrived in Beta 1.8. |
| Desert temples, jungle temples | No | Added in 1.0+. |
| Modern biomes (mesa, savanna, ice spikes) | No | Part of the later biome overhaul. |
This generation applies to any world running Betafied, including singleplayer. To play on a persistent shared world with this terrain, see joining the server.
