Installing & updating

Betafied is intended to be played using the ready-to-play Bundled Addon & World (.mctemplate), giving you 10,000 × 10,000 blocks of authentic Beta terrain pre-configured. Update files (.mcaddon) are provided for updating existing Betafied worlds.

Quick start

  1. Download Betafied.mctemplate (Bundled Addon & World) from the Downloads page.
  2. Open the file so Minecraft automatically imports the world template.
  3. Create a new world from the Betafied template to immediately explore 10k × 10k Beta terrain.
  4. To update an existing world, download the update .mcaddon and update pack versions in world settings.

Before you start

  • Minecraft Bedrock Edition 1.26 or newer (Java is not supported).
  • A supported device: Windows 10/11, Android, or iOS/iPadOS.
  • The latest .mctemplate (for new worlds) or .mcaddon update file from the downloads page.
Important: Do Not Apply Addon to Vanilla Worlds

Betafied’s update files are strictly for updating previously created Betafied worlds. Do not apply the addon to existing vanilla worlds or use it to create new worlds from scratch—it will break existing worlds and cause issues. For new worlds, always use the ready-to-play .mctemplate world.

Windows 10 / 11

  1. New World (Intended) Download Betafied.mctemplate from the downloads page and double-click it. Minecraft launches and imports the template. Click Play → Create New → Betafied Template.
  2. Updating an Existing World Download the .mcaddon update file, double-click to import it, then go into your existing Betafied world settings to update the Behavior and Resource pack versions.
  3. Verify experiments Ensure both Beta APIs and Upcoming Creator Features are enabled in the world’s Experiments tab.

Android

  1. New World (Intended) Download Betafied.mctemplate in Chrome or your browser. Tap the file and choose Open with Minecraft, then create a world from the template.
  2. Updating an Existing World Download the .mcaddon update file, open with Minecraft to import, and update the pack versions in your existing world settings.

iOS / iPadOS

  1. New World (Intended) Download Betafied.mctemplate in Safari. In Files, tap or share the template to Minecraft, then create a world from the template.
  2. Updating an Existing World Download the .mcaddon update file, share to Minecraft, and update the packs in your existing world settings.

Dedicated servers (BDS)

  1. Extract the packs Unzip the .mcaddon, or download the separate BP and RP .mcpack files and rename them to .zip.
  2. Drop them in Extract into the server’s behavior_packs/ and resource_packs/ folders.
  3. Enable experiments Turn on Beta APIs and Upcoming Creator Features. Experiments are stored with the world, not the server. Because BDS has no settings UI, enable them in a local copy of the world and upload that save to the server.
  4. Register the UUIDs Add each pack’s UUID to world_behavior_packs.json and world_resource_packs.json.
  5. Restart Connected players receive the textures and scripts automatically on join.

Updating Betafied

Import the newer .mcaddon the same way. Minecraft keeps the old copy alongside the new one, so re-activate the packs in your world after importing and confirm the version shown in the world settings.
