Creating a claim
- Place a chest This chest marks the center of your claim area.
-
Place a sign
Put a sign against that chest and write
[Claim]on line 1. Nothing else on the line counts. - Fuel it Fill the chest with fuel. The claim starts protected immediately and burns fuel from the chest.
-
Check it
The sign shows the owner and the time remaining. Run
/far:claimfor the full menu.
A claim consumes one fuel item every half-second, online or not. Stock the chest well before a long break, or the land quietly reverts and anyone can build there.
How much land you get
| Radius | Coverage area | Upgrade cost | Fuel burn |
|---|---|---|---|
| 15 blocks | Entry size | None | ×1 |
| 30 blocks | One upgrade up | 60 minutes | ×2 |
| 45 blocks | Two up | 240 minutes | ×4 |
| 60 blocks | Three up | 720 minutes | ×6 |
| 75 blocks | Maximum | 1440 minutes | ×8 |
Upgrading a claim deducts from your remaining fuel time rather than taking items directly, and larger claim tiers consume fuel at higher rates. Reaching the maximum radius requires 2,460 minutes of total fuel time.
Fuel table
Every fuel item is worth a fixed amount of protection. The chest always burns your cheapest fuel first, so a lone diamond is the last thing to go.
| Fuel | Protection |
|---|---|
| Coal / charcoal | 10 minutes |
| Redstone / lapis / quartz | 10 minutes |
| Iron ore / iron ingot | 20 minutes |
| Gold ore | 30 minutes |
| Gold ingot | 40 minutes |
| Coal block | 90 minutes |
| Diamond | 240 minutes (4 hours) |
Items from modern versions (such as copper, raw ores or netherite) do not exist in Beta 1.7.3 and cannot be used as claim fuel.
